June 2011: Public Invited to Comment on the Draft Regional Transportation Plan
Over the last year, the Gainesville-Hall Metropolitan Planning Organization (GHMPO), made up of local citizens, government staff, and elected officials, has been developing the federally mandated 2040 Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP). This year-long effort has provided local citizens several opportunities to identify and recommended multimodal transportation solutions that will improve mobility, operations, and safety in our rapidly growing community. Based on this interaction, the draft 2040 MTP has been completed and will be presented at this meeting.
Please plan to attend this meeting to share your comments on the draft 2040 MTP that identifies specific roadway, intersection, bicycle, pedestrian, and public transit improvements that will enhance mobility and safety for all transportation users in the Gainesville-Hall area. The formal 30-day public comment period will begin on June 14, 2011 and run through July 13, 2011. The Plan is anticipated to be adopted on August 9, 2011.
