April 2016: Chicopee Trail Grand Opening

The staff of the Gainesville-Hall Metropolitan Planning Organization attended the grand opening of the Highlands to Islands Trail: Chicopee Section on April 23, 2016. This 11-foot wide concrete trail extends roughly 2.8 miles from Palmour Drive to the Georgia Department of Labor on Atlanta Highway in central Hall County. The trail was constructed with funds from federal Transportation Enhancement program and Hall County Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax. This trail will ultimately connect with other trails, existing and planned, in the county to form an interconnected trail network called Highlands to Islands Trails.
