February 2013: GHMPO Regional Transportation Plan Recognized Nationally

The GHMPO 2040 Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP) was recognized as one of the best planning documents throughout the United States. The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), in coordination with the Federal Highway Administration and the Florida Metropolitan Planning Organization Advisory Council, studied long range transportation plans from 359 MPOs in the country (excluding Florida’s 26 MPOs) and determined that our MTP exemplifies long range planning ‘best practices’. The recently published report by FDOT recognized the MTP as good example of a descriptive plan that informs the public and speaks at an appropriate level that can easily be understood.
