June 2007: Public Comment Period on Draft LRTP and Draft 2008-2013 TIP
The SAFETEA-LU (Safe, Accountable, Flexible, Efficient Transportation Equity Act: A Legacy for Users) is the most recent law establishing federal transportation policy and funding authorizations. In conformance with this law the Gainesville-Hall Metropolitan Planning Organization (GHMPO) has developed a draft 2030 Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP) to provide direction on issues involving transportation needs and to identify a list of fiscally constrained transportation projects over the next 23 years and a draft 2008-2013 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) to provide information on multi-modal transportation projects over the next six years. Both of these documents require a minimum public comment period of 45 days before official adoption. Public and interested agencies can review and comment on the 2030 LRTP by clicking here and on the 2008-2013 TIP by clicking here. Hardcopies of these documents will be made available at the Hall County Planning Department, located in the Development Services Center at 440 Prior Street, S.E., Gainesville, Georgia. Official adoption of the 2030 LRTP and the 2008-2013 TIP will be on the agenda of the GHMPO Policy Committee at its regular meeting on August 14, 2007.
